Cairns Barra Park is a great place to spend a few hours, or check out our other activities at the park and even spend the entire day. Whilst Barramundi are the main fishing species in the lake, you may also catch other species. Our fish range from 25cm to some nearing the elusive 1 meter. We cater for all levels of fishing experience, from beginners and families to the experienced angler.

Due to the extreme humid summer conditions in North Queensland our Barra tend to go off the bight during the summer months. You can still see them and they still feed during cooler times, early morning / late afternoon, though they tend to go deeper into the lake to get amongst the cooler water, therefore making it harder to catch them. They will grow bigger and be ready again for the cooler months.

1 hour sessions start on the hour and bookings are recommended.

You will find everything you need included your ticket price including rod hire. If you wish to fish with pellets, it is an additional charge.
We are a natural eco-friendly environment and whilst we cannot “guarantee” a catch we will do everything possible to assist you.
Note: You may bring your own food and drinks but please ensure no glass and no BYO alcohol. You may use our free BBQs or you can purchase food and drinks from our café & licensed bar located at the main building.

A great venue for all types of school, work or sporting group bookings.
We also offer Barra Birthday party packages - $39 per person includes an hour of fishing plus lunch afterwards (nuggets/hotdog, chips and a juice + lolly bag), an allocated party table in the shade, space for a cake in the fridge and time afterwards for you to enjoy your food, cake and celebrations. 2 hours of fishing with the above inclusions is $55 per person.
